3RD ALARM FIRE IN SOLVAY: 1611 MILTON AVE |
Sun, Feb 16th, 2014 5:50:00 pm
At approx. 1750 Hrs. Ladder 5 was alerted to respond to Solvay for a possible structure fire at the Fairmount Carpet and Linoleum store. While enroute units were given updated information that multiple calls were being received for smoke from the rear of the structure, these reports were confirmed by the Solvay Chief who arrived a short time later and reported a working fire. Ladder 5 arrived 3rd due and took a position in the rear of the building securing their own water supply. The crew stretched a 2nd line and began to open up for Solvay Engine 22 who was making a push on the fire from the C side, while Fairmount Engine 6 was making entry on side A. After operating inside for a short time crews were pulled from the building due to rapidly deteriorating fire conditions. As crews began to set up for a heavy duty defensive operation, command requested a 2nd alarm which brought Engine 6 to the scene. The fire was eventually taken to a 3rd alarm bringing crews from all over the county either to the scene or for station coverage. Taunton crews operated until approximately 0100 Hrs. the next morning completing various tasks. |
