Last night, at 21:45 hours, Taunton was activated for a possible Industrial Fire in the Solvay Fire District. The 911 caller had reported a fire in an industrial dryer that was possibly spreading.

Taunton Ladder 5 (LT. Williams) handled the alarm, along with Car 1 (Chief Phelan) and Car 3 (A/C Martin).

First arriving Solvay units were met with heavy smoke out of an overhead door, and encountered active fire in machinery.

Due to a quick response from all companies dispatched, Taunton’s crew initially stood by on the first floor of the facility. The crew was eventually sent to the second floor to assist in bringing equipment up, and also assisted in checking for any fire in the basement.

Taunton units operated on scene for just under an hour before returning to service.
